Dates in late 2021 | The Alex Hotel, Dublin 2
The Media Masterclass with Ivan Yates will provide you with the skills to be your own best PR person.
As in any walk of transactional life it is harder to get known or build a reputation indirectly through third parties than through the personal touch. The media provides the perfect platform for you to build a reputation at minimal cost.
No army of press officers or PR teams can insulate you from disaster or ensure your success. They are merely your support act. In reality, the on air performance is a solo experience without a safety net.
The Masterclass is about amplifying your ability in a world of opportunity so that you can achieve greater fulfilment and success for yourself, your career, your organisation and your brand.
The Masterclass will be held in person in The Alex Hotel, Dublin 2. Each date will have a small cohort of attendees to allow for a personalised intimate learning experience.
There are currently three 2021 dates announced with limited availability on each:
- Friday 24th September
- Wednesday 20th October
- Monday 29th November
This masterclass equates to 7 hours of CPD
The Masterclass Experience
“I want to personally invite you to join me for what I believe will be a memorable day in your career. My intention is to bring you on a journey of learning about all aspects of the media and broadcasting that will provide you with both confidenceand competence in facing into any interview. My objective is to impart the lessons I’ve learned over four decades of being in the media spotlight selling a message, to actually working live in studio.
What can you expect? A combination of tuition, workshop training and boot camp. High energy and passion over four sessions. Firstly, how to comprehensively prepare to present yourself and your brand to develop a clear narrative – involving a deep dive into communicating your critical positive points.Secondly, all the tricks of the trade when you are on air, with minute attention toevery detail. Thirdly, a complete survival kit of damage limitation in enduring crisis PR. Finally, how to manage all aspects of your media relationships on an ongoing basis to develop and sustain your profile.
One size does not fit all circumstances in public relations perspectives. So, my goal is that the course will be both bespoke and relevant to your career, organisation or company. Interactive question & answer plus task segments on the day will be complemented by the optional follow up of a virtual mock interview with myself followed by analysis at a later date (on a one to one basis).
This will hopefully culminate with you drawing up your own media plan over the next year. We seek to develop: your own personal self-awareness; character building media resilience; content refinement techniques; assertiveness and strategic approaches to become your own best PR person.
I have partnered up in this new venture with iQuest, who are the leading professionals when it comes to organising the most sophisticated participative events like conferences, seminars and webinars. They will deal with all the commercial and administrative aspects of enrolment and hospitality on the day. Their professionalism and highly skilled track record with Business Post live events is up to the highest international standards. Their audio visual presentation will include clips and montages of best and worst performances.
This unique course will be highly beneficial to: business executives, entrepreneurs; those working in both private and public sectors whose role involves media engagement; incumbent and potential public representatives; elite sports persons; emerging broadcasters; NGO communicators and a wide spectrum of elected leaders of representative organisations. My purpose is to make you ‘match fit’.
If you need to communicate publicly, this course is for you. Because it is based on my practical personal experience in coping with adversity, building media relationships, learning from my mistakes, participating in courses myself, successfully increasing ratings and observing what does and doesn’t work on air.
The 18,000 words I’m using are based on months of reflection, refinement and consultation with the best media professionals. I’ve put together both the basic and most complex DOs and DON’Ts of individual broadcasting.
I hope you enjoy the day and have no doubt you will reap the full benefits in all your communications challenges going forward.”
